Current profile on social networks

Research interests

With the rise and widespread availability of "large data", I am interested in the information content of microblogs (like e.g. Twitter) and their use as an indicator for events in the offline world (especially the stock markets). Exploring the underlying (social) network structures and individual social media usage patterns helps in understanding better the ability of microblogs to predict real world events and allows insights into their increasing relevance as news medium.
